Junior 3 Coach - Alex Phillips
Alex has been with the Club as a swimmer for twelve years and began helping on poolside before going to University. As part of his Degree course, a work placement took him to Newcastle SC where he worked with Ian Oliver. Alex brings youthful enthusiasm to the Club’s Junior 3 squad. In August of this year Alex was part of a team which did a sponsored cycle ride from Istanbul to Paris.
Junior 2 Coach - Bob Cherry
Bob has worked tirelessly as a volunteer for many years with the Club and brings to the Squad his in-depth and extensive knowledge of the sport.
Junior 1 Coach - Kaye Smart
Kaye has recently joined the club from Burton, where she managed the Diddy Squad. Kaye was herself a swimmer and is responsible for the Junior 1 squad.
Learn to Swim Co-ordinator / Development Squad Coach - Ian Bexon
Ian is the longest servicing member of the team and has been with the Club for three years. He is the Learn to Swim Co-ordinator, and Coach responsible for the Development Squad, the squad immediately following on from the Learn to Swim programme.
Masters Coach - Dave Akers Dave has a wealth of experience in the sport which is going to make him a valuable addition to Spencer’s coaching team and can only be of great benefit to our club. Dave competed at all levels and at 12 he went to Canada for a year where he became Canadian National Champion in the 400m IM. He has been coached by, and trained with, some of the best Coaches and swimmers of the time. In 2003, he decided to channel his enthusiasm for the sport into Coaching, and after a break away from poolside, the time and circumstances are now right for Dave to return to Coaching, and the Masters Squad are the lucky beneficiaries.
Strength and Conditioning Coach - Callum Henley Callum comes on board as the club’s Strength and Conditioning Coach after graduating from Lincoln University with a Degree in Sport and Exercise Science, specifically in The Physiology of Elite Performance, Strength and Conditioning and Nutrition.
